Halil Amir Suffers Defeat to Shamil Gasanov at ONE Fight Night 26
Halil Amir could not match Shamil Gasanov’s grappling mastery as the Russian finished 2024 with three wins from three bouts.
Gasanov took down his Turkish counterpart at the start of the bout and showed his dominance on the mat. However, Amir displayed his usual toughness to keep the Russian star from submitting him.
The 29-year-old Russian continued his dominance in the second round, but couldn’t score a successful submission attempt while Amir received a yellow card from the referee for using the ropes to block a takedown.
Amir started the third round well, landing a punch and a knee shot to the body, but Gasanov shifted the momentum his way again with a takedown.
The Turkish star escaped the dangerous position and, with a less minute to go in the final round, Amir applied the guillotine choke but couldn’t force his opponent to tap out.
With this win, Gasanov raises his overall MMA record to 15-1 while Amir’s second consecutive loss brings his overall record down to 10-2.
