“This in my opinion is the biggest jump the sport has taken since Royce dominated in the UFC,” Ryan wrote in an Instagram post.”
FloSports have been around since 2006 and the company has been going from strength to strength, but it took until 2020 for FloGrappling to start staging their own events. That was the year that they first put on a Who’s Number One event and managed to get several of the best grapplers on the planet to compete on the same night. Gordon Ryan has since headlined the event on several occasions, including his epic no time-limit third match against Felipe Pena most recently. This was actually one of the most successful events that the promotion has ever staged, as tons of BJJ fans tuned in to see Ryan turn the tide of his rivalry with Felipe Pena and bring their personal record to 2-1.
In fact, the very next match that he will compete in on the Who’s Number One mats is also against Pena, as their fourth battle is booked for February 25th. There have been no other announcements yet as to who Gordon Ryan will be facing as part of his seven-figure contract with FloSports, but he’s also the promotion’s Heavyweight champion after submitting Pedro Marinho so they will no doubt be some of the best competitors available in that division.
Gordon Ryan announced the news that he had signed the seven-figure multi-fight contract with FloSports in a recent post to his official Instagram account:
