Francis Ngannou’s coach cashes in on Mike Tyson’s presence in his training camp

Nicksick, trainer of Francis Ngannou speaks for the first time of the presence of Mike Tyson on the camp of his colt.

For his first steps in boxing, Francis Ngannou called on the legendary Mike Tyson in his training camp, a choice that Eric Nicksick, his coach since the UFC, particularly appreciates.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou is actively preparing for his historic fight against WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. To do this, the Cameroonian preferred a big name in the discipline to sharpen his plans. It is in this logic that he called on the living legend of the discipline, Mike Tyson. As the sessions continue, Eric Nicksick, the longtime Predator coach, broke the silence to give his opinion on the presence of Mike Tyson in his training camp.

The event is long awaited by ‘The Predator’, who quit mixed martial arts leader UFC earlier this year after failing to secure a number of desirable contract terms. These included the freedom to make his professional boxing debut, Ngannou’s first love in combat sports. Fortunately for the Cameroonian, it was under the banner of the Professional Fighters League that he found his happiness. Before joining the PFL cage for the first time in 2024, the ex-UFC star will don the boxing gloves for a show-stopping clash with WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia in next October from which Aspinall allowed himself to predict the chances of the Predator.

The presence of Mike Tyson is important for Francis Ngannou
In the eyes of many, Francis Ngannou has no chance of seeing his hand raised against the undefeated Fury. Legendary pugilist Mike Tyson sees things differently. Earlier this month, it was confirmed that ‘Iron Mike’ would train with Ngannou in Las Vegas, (check out the first footage) ahead of his clash with ‘The Gypsy King’. During a recent interview with The Schmo, Ngannou’s longtime coach Eric Nicksick, who helped guide ‘The Predator’ to octagon glory, spoke about Tyson’s presence in camp, describing him as an “intense” trainer.

“It was really surreal. It was really cool to meet Mike in person and get to observe him and see his work ethic,” Nicksick said. “He is intense and you understand why he was the type of fighter he was. The workouts we did and hearing his voice, his boxing ideologies. »

“Obviously (Mike) Tyson and Francis have very different body types, with Tyson trying to go more inside and use a lot of his power. With that in mind, we want to go inside, do things with body work, listen to Mike and the ways he talks about,” Nicksick continued. “It was so fun to watch what was happening. It’s almost a child that came out of me, like, ‘Man, I watched this guy grow up when I was little.

While the Cameroonian rightfully remains a big underdog ahead of the October 28 fight in Saudi Arabia, he is certain he is doing everything he can and employing everyone to ensure an upset occurs.
