PFL founder Donn Davis believes Francis Ngannou will most likely be back in the cage in 2024.
How far will Francis Ngannou go? After a unanimous decision victory against Ciryl Gane in January 2022, the Cameroonian became a free agent and did not wish to renew his contract with the UFC. The heavyweight therefore decided to sign with Donn Davis and the PFL, even if ‘The Predator’ was still afraid for the future.
Although he signed with an MMA organization, Francis Ngannou has not set foot in the cage since. The former UFC champion has instead focused on his boxing career. Last October, he knocked out Tyson Fury but lost by split decision. In less than a month, he will return to Saudi Arabia to face former two-time champion, Anthony Joshua. Donn Davis still wants to see his superstar in the PFL cage.
During a recent interview with The Independent, Donn Davis was asked about Ngannou’s future in MMA.
He confirmed that the Cameroonian was still expected to fight in the octagon: “I am 100% sure that Francis will fight in MMA for the PFL and not just once, but several times. I am confident that Francis will be our long-term business partner. I believe he will ultimately prove that he is the greatest athlete in combat sports. »
MMA Who’s Who will be cage-side for Champs v Champs Super Fight in Saudi Arabia … @francis_ngannou @JonnyBones @PFLMMA v @BellatorMMA
PPV SAT FEB 24 3p ET— Donn Davis (@DonnDavisPFL) February 17, 2024
Donn Davis continued by stating that the winner of the Ryan Bader vs. Renan Ferreria could face Francis Ngannou. They will fight as the headliner of the PFL vs. Bellator later this month in Saudi Arabia.
“I think the winner of ‘La Problema’ and Bader will interest Francis Ngannou. I think whoever emerges victorious will have proven that they are truly the number 1 contender in heavyweight MMA, and not just within our organization. Bader has reigned in Bellator for five years. ‘La Problema’ is the toughest and most athletic opponent in the world. I don’t know who will win, but I think the winner can qualify to challenge Francis. »
