Five Reasons to Watch ONE Fight Night 29 This Saturday

ONE Championship returns to Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium in the morning hours of this Saturday, March 8, for ONE Fight Night 29.

The show will be headlined by a ONE Women’s Atomweight Muay Thai world championship bout where Allycia Hellen Rodrigues defends her title against Marie McManamon.

With 10 other fights in Muay Thai, MMA, and Submission Grappling on the fight card, here are five reasons to watch ONE Fight Night 29.

1. The Main Event

Allycia Hellen Rodrigues may have dominated the atomweight Muay Thai for years, but she is about to face arguably her biggest test yet.

While ONE Championship fans have seen Rodrigues’ world-class attacking skills, they will get their first taste of Marie McManamon’s explosive kicks and vicious clinch game.

Both the defending champion and the experienced debutant will each be undoubtedly highly motivated to leave Bangkok with the belt wrapped around their waste.

2. Two Anticipated Debuts

ONE Fight Night 29 will witness the debuts of both decorated BJJ black belt Diogo Reis and undefeated American MMA star Joshua Perreira.

A two-time ADCC world champion, Reis, who will face Japan’s Shoya Ishiguro in a flyweight submission grappling contest, hopes to bring his experience and form into ONE Championship.

Meanwhile, Perreira aims to take his overall MMA record to 6-0 and keep his 100% finishing rate when he locks horns with China’s Banma Duoji in a flyweight MMA bout.

3. Iran’s Gheirati Hopes to Remain Undefeated

After amassing a 6-0 record in ONE Friday Fights, Iran’s Parham Gheirati is set to fight for the first time on a main monthly card.

Gheirati, who finished four of his six competitors, faces a stiff test against Thailand’s Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon in a bantamweight Muay Thai bout.

While Gheirati is keen to keep his ONE record clean, Rambolek hopes to improve his 4-2 promotional record and pick up his third consecutive victory.

4. A Pivotal Bantamweight MMA Clash

ONE Fight Night 29 will also see top bantamweight MMA contenders collide for a future world title shot as number-4 ranked Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu faces number-5 ranked Jeremy Pacatiw.

Known for his dynamic striking game, Pacatiw showed his evolving grappling as he earned two consecutive submission victories.

While the Filipino knows a third straight win could propel him into world title contention, Baatarkhuu is aiming to cement himself as a serious title contender with a sixth win in seven ONE bouts.

The strong Mongolian submission specialist also hopes to make it three out of three wins against Filipino fighters in ONE Championship.

5. Erdogan and Zakirov Look to Remain Unbeaten

MMA stars Sanzhar Zakirov and Shamil Erdogan hope to keep their respective overall MMA records clean at ONE Fight Night 29.

Uzbekistan’s Zakirov aims to defeat Indonesian Eko Roni Saputra who wants to go back to winning ways after falling to two defeats following his seven-win-streak.

Meanwhile, Turkish giant Erdogan wants to add a fourth win to his ONE record after two wins against former two-division MMA world champion Aung La N Sang and a victory against China’s Fan Rong as he takes on Brazilian veteran Gilberto Galvao in a light heavyweight MMA contest.
