Evloev remains undefeated with tough win over Allen at UFC 297

Movsar Evloev sees gold on his way after defeating Arnold Allen in the UFC 297 main card fight.

The undefeated Russian had to go through difficult times during the fight.

But Evloev’s relentless wrestling attacks, combined with badly hurting Allin in the second round, allowed him to get the job done.

At the end of the fight, all three judges scored the match 29-28 in favor of Evloev, who improved his record to 18 matches without defeat (18-0).

Movsar will now hope that performance will guarantee him a title shot, against the winner of the UFC 298 main event when featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski faces Ilya Topuria.

Ivlov said of Allen after the fight: “He’s a good, strong fighter.”

He added: “After beating this man, I feel like I can fight anyone. I feel like I’m the next title contender.”

Allen takes the initiative
It was Allen who took the initiative early in the fight, hitting Evloev repeatedly throughout the first round.

Evloev looked to close the distance to apply his wrestling skills and was ultimately able to drag Allin to the canvas.

Allen kept getting back to his feet, but was unable to break free from Evloev’s grip, and it continued to bother him throughout the three rounds.

When the second round resumed, Allen kept a noticeably low stance in preparation for Evloev’s eventual dive for his legs.

Allen was also playing with fire with each punch without overdoing it, doing his best to keep Evloev away from him.

With less than a minute remaining, the Russian unleashed a stinging left shot that shook Allen and put him on wobbly legs.

Blood flows
Evloev moved forward, seeking to take advantage of Arnold’s bad cut under his left eye, and the blood began to flow.

Allen’s response came moments later, after unleashing a barrage of consecutive knees that hit Evloev in the head.

Referee Mark Goddard intervened to temporarily stop the fight because he considered the use of knees illegal due to the opponent’s fall.

No points were deducted, but Allen lost his mind while allowing Evloev to get back to his feet.

Allen made a late choke attempt, before the final horn sounded in a frantic battle for 15 straight minutes.

With his victory, Movsar continues his march towards the top of the featherweight rankings.

As for Allen, he has lost two fights in a row, after starting his UFC career with 10 consecutive victories.
