Algeria’s Elias Mahmoudi paid respect to his next opponent Denis Puric ahead of their clash at ONE Championship event ONE Fight Night 26: Lee vs Rasulov.
Mahmoudi and Puric will face each other in a pivotal flyweight Muay Thai contest that could decide the next challenger to the division’s belt.
And while the 26-year-old Algerian is confident he can grab a big win in the morning hours of Saturday, December 7, he is wary of the skills of the Bosnian-Canadian fighter who last showed his courage and abilities as he fought with former longtime divisional champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
“He is a very good fighter who put Rodtang in difficulty. I think it will be a good fight. I don’t think there is anything special about him. I respect him as a fighter and for his career, but nothing more,” Mahmoudi said.
Nicknamed “The Sniper”, the Algerian picked up two consecutive knockout victories against Mexico’s Edgar Tabares and, most recently, third-ranked Taiki Naito.
Mahmoudi will be looking for a third consecutive victory against Denis Puric at ONE Fight Night 26: Lee vs Rasulov which kicks off at 4:00 AM Mecca on Saturday, December 7. The show will be broadcast live via beIN SPORTS.
