Dustin Poirier wants to face Conor McGregor: “Even if I give him another beating, he will…”

Dustin Poirier is open to the idea of facing Conor McGregor again.

Daniel Cormier has come forward with a piece of advice for Dustin Poirier if he were to face Conor McGregor in the future. ‘DC’ is of the opinion that Poirier should take the opportunity to fight ‘The Notorious’ without any hesitation. Why would he say that?

The former double champion, Daniel Cormier, has advised the Louisiana native to face Conor McGregor without any hesitation. In his new YouTube video, ‘DC’ said, “Before they fought the second time, I had a couple of conversations with Dustin. Him fighting McGregor, I was in a Home Depot and laughing at him, and I were on the phone having a conversation about the fight, the financials, and everything, which he’s done exceedingly well in those fights.”

He further added, “I was just really happy to kind of help him as he was making his decision on the fight and everything. But now that he has beaten McGregor two in a row, there should not be any hesitancy to fight him again.”

Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor have faced each other three times during their careers. Their first clash took place in September 2014, with McGregor winning by TKO in the 1st round. The rematch only took place in January 2021, and this time it was Poirier who beat the Irishman by TKO in the second round. The trilogy took place in July 2021.

In the first round, Conor McGregor fractured his tibia, and therefore lost by TKO. However, the rivalry between the two men may not be over…

In an interview with Megan Olivi at UFC Vegas 82, Dustin Poirier also opened the door to a quadrilogy with the Irishman.

“I probably would, yes. To try to silence him once and for all. But even if I give him another beating, he will continue to talk. We will see. Is the fight between him and Chandler official? I don’t know. But it’s a huge fight (Poirier vs. McGregor). We are at 2-1 for me. I don’t really see any other reason for this, but it would be a huge fight. »

Dustin Poirier was knocked out by Justin Gaethje in their rematch in July. Despite this defeat, ‘The Diamond’ remains a big name in the UFC lightweight division. It remains to be seen whether a fourth duel with McGregor will take place. The latter should make its long-awaited return during the summer of 2024.
