Dricus Du Plessis sent a message to people who didn’t believe in him after his coronation as UFC world champion.
On Saturday night, Dricus Du Plessis (21-2) challenged middleweight champion Sean Strickland (28-6) for the UFC world title. The event took place at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada. Du Plessis was on a six-fight winning streak in the UFC, including a TKO over Robert Whittaker in July 2023.
During 5 rounds, Strickland and Du Plessis fought a close fight. In the end, it was the challenger who won by split decision and captured the title (see the summary). For many observers, including UFC CEO Dana White, it was Strickland who should have emerged victorious.
