Denice Zamboanga’s Injury Forces Her Out of Title Clash Against Alyona Rassohyna
The ONE Women’s Interim Atomweight MMA world title clash between Denice Zamboanga and Alyona Rassohyna is off.
The world title contest was supposed to take place at ONE Fight Night 25 until Zamboanga revealed that she has picked up a hamstring injury during training
“During one of my sparring sessions, I heard a loud snap, and I knew right away that something was seriously wrong. It’s heartbreaking, because I’ve been waiting for this opportunity for so long,” Zamboanga said.
This is the third time Zamboanga has narrowly missed out on challenging for the world title.
In 2020, the Filipina’s title clash with the now-retired Angela Lee was cancelled after the latter got pregnant while her title tilt against Stamp Fairtex last June was cancelled after the Thai got injured.
The 27-year-old owns a 11-2 overall record and is on a three-win-streak having beaten Lin Heqin, Julie Mezabarba, and Noelle Grandjean via unanimous decision.
