Dauev Beats Akaev in Exciting MMA Matchup at ONE Fight Night 32
Ibragim Dauev defeated Magomed Akaev in an all-Russian MMA contest via split decision in ONE Championship show ONE Fight Night 32.
Russian duo Dauev and Akaev faced each other in a featherweight MMA thriller inside Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium.
Akaev wobbled Dauev with a left hand before the latter quickly looked for the takedown. But Akaev controlled the rest of the first round with sharp counters and clean combinations.
Akaev nearly secured the finish in the second frame, hitting a takedown and then hunting for a rear-naked choke, but Dauev reversed and landed shots from top position before Akaev worked his way back up to his feet, and the two exchanged knee strikes.
Dauev drove his compatriot to his mat and attempted to submit him, maintaining pressure, connecting with another takedown, and tried to submit him with a rear-naked choke as time expired.
In the end, Dauev won by a majority decision, improving his overall professional record to 10-1 and became the first man to beat Akaev in his professional career.
