Conor McGregor attacked Alexander Volkanovski in a tweet about his pound-for-pound No. 1 spot. The latter reacted.
The king of provocation, Conor McGregor, who obtained his BJJ black belt last week, is back. Indeed, he did not hesitate to attack Alexander Volkanovski following the latter’s comments who declared that he would be ready to fight McGregor, even if he had to move up to welterweight. Here’s what he said (via MMANews):
Ask my bollox that little sausage volkonovski is no way p4p 1. Silly. That’s quick work for me. 100% accuracy work. Readable. Hittable. Hurtable. I like he has this title tho we should fight at some stage so the FW goats will have all faced off and let there be no debate.

“Obviously, Conor is always going to be talked about. You have to remember he was a featherweight, he was champion in my division. So I eliminated the featherweight champions. He’s the only one left, isn’t he? Me, Aldo, Max and Conor. So this makes a lot of sense. Obviously it would be a dream and then I knocked out every other champion in my division, so that would be amazing. You talk about the salary and all that, the circus around that would be great. But at the same time, as far as legacy goes, he’s also undefeated at featherweight. That would mean something. But I don’t think he’ll come back to featherweight.”
Conor McGregor, for his part, sent a dig at Volkanovski by saying that he was not the best pound-for-pound fighter: or the best pound-for-pound fighter in MMA and asserts that he will get rid of “The Great”.
“This little Volkanovski sausage is by no means the number 1 p4p. It’s silly. This is a quick job for me. 100% precise work. Legible. Touch. Hurtable. I like that he has this title, so we should fight at some point so that the featherweight GOATs face each other and there is no debate.”
Of course, Volkanovski was obliged to respond, clearly and clearly:
Let’s do it at #UFC300 @TheNotoriousMMA https://t.co/KNzXUAd6gT

“Let’s do it at UFC300 @TheNotoriousMMA.”
Of course, that’s just talk, and for now, Alexander Volkanovski is headed toward a title defense against Ilia Topuria, while Conor McGregor is set to face Michael Chandler, perhaps even at UFC 296.
Would you like to see a fight between Conor McGregor and Alexander Volkanovski?
The featherweight champion challenged the all-time great star to a bout at UFC 300. While the prospect of a fight between the two men is sure to spark the interest of fans, it is unlikely to happen, as Alexander Volkanovski is now one of many fighters that Conor McGregor has challenged to a fight.
He has now challenged Nate Diaz, Justin Gaethje and KSI, in addition to ‘The Great’. With his clash against Michael Chandler still without an official date, it remains to be seen when the Irishman will finally make his UFC return.
