This Saturday, April 13 during UFC 300, Arman Tsarukyan emerged victorious in a big fight against Charles Oliveira. The Brazilian spoke about the fight and thought he won.
Arman Tsarukyan did not go far. At UFC 300 (all results here), Charles Oliveira nearly choked out Arman Tsarukyan several times, but the Armenian lightweight fought like a lion to turn the tide. In the end, Tsarukyan emerged victorious from this clash which was sealed by a split decision. The former UFC champion said in an interview with Canal Encarada that he thought Tsarukyan went out in the final moments of the third round, while locking in his D’arce Choke:
“There were 30 seconds left, it was close, it was one of my favorite submissions, the D’Arce Choke. I thought he was finished, that’s why I stuck out my tongue, jokingly, you know? But I don’t know, that’s the game.” Six of Oliveira’s 21 career submissions have come via guillotine, and he regretted not being able to finish Tsarukyan with that technique early in the match: “The guillotine, I don’t lose this position. Arman was a very strong guy… Three rounds, three locked submissions, and time was up. This wasn’t supposed to happen…I had to finish him. I had to finish it. »
Arman Tsarukyan had trained himself to resist submissions
Arman Tsarukyan, who has shaken up the lightweight rankings in recent months, did not do it by chance. The latter shared videos of his training on YouTube, where we can see him at work, facing a D’Arce Choke. The Armenian learned to position himself and defend in the best possible way against this technique from the Brazilian.
