Charles Oliveira is confident he will get the next lightweight title fight

Charles Oliveira believes his name will be the next one on the contract for lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. Oliveira was scheduled to meet Makhachev at the recent UFC 294 before pulling out with an injury.

Oliveira was scheduled to challenge Makhachev at UFC 294 earlier this month. An injury, though, knocked him from the contest and opened the door for featherweight titleholder Alexander Volkanovski to face him.

“Whoever the UFC says he’s going to fight, they’re going to fight,” Oliveira said during an appearance on The MMA Hour (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “Everybody knows I’m next. First in the rankings, coming off of a great win and ready to fight like I was before.

Charles Oliveira became the front-runner of Islam Makhachev at the UFC 294 on October 21, but there were many moments of combat, it was the first to open the arcade sourcilière at the entrance. The poids-plumed champion, Alexander Volkanovski, accepted the fight against the poids-legs with short notice, after 10 days of preparation. Malheureusement, the Australian subi un violent KO au 1er round, and a vu ses espoirs de decrocher une deuxième ceinture s’envoler.

For the moment, the identity of Makhachev’s promotion is not official. The n°1 left-handed ones Charles Oliveira, and the n°2 Justin Gaethje, presented all of them at home. Toutefois, ‘Do the Bronx’ is used by combat for the ceinture of the prochaine fois. It’s most effective on “The MMA Hour”.

Makhachev vs. Oliveira 2?

“Everyone knows I’m next. I’m first in the rankings, I’m coming off a big victory and I’m ready to fight like I did before. I was ready for this fight until the cut happened, and I’m next in line. Nobody said anything. I train and prepare. They know what I am. I don’t fight for money. I am fighting to make history and for my legacy. I will continue to train and try to be 100%, like I was right before this fight. When I’m 100%, I’ll be ready to fight (…) I want this belt. No matter whose name it is, I want this belt. »

In June, at UFC 289, Charles Oliveira inflicted a 1st round TKO on Beneil Dariush. A victory which allowed the Brazilian to relaunch himself in the race for the title, he who had been submitted by Islam Makhachev in October 2022.
