Baki loses to Owen Livesey in a Grappling fight!

On June 15, 2024, the Doncaster Dome in England hosted Polaris 28, a major grappling event. A last minute change saw Baki replace Yoel Romero to face Owen Livesey, a Polaris veteran renowned for his skills in judo and catch wrestling. Livesey had already made his mark by defeating former UFC champion Chris Weidman at Polaris 23.

The fight was marked by excellent technique on both sides, each offensive and defensive act bordering on perfection.

After an intense confrontation, the judges rendered a unanimous decision in favor of Livesey. Baki, convinced he had won, expressed his frustration with this decision.

This outcome sparked mixed reactions among fans, with some feeling that Baki deserved the victory, including himself.

Repercussions

This victory strengthens Livesey’s position in the Polaris scene, adding to his already impressive track record. For Baki, despite the defeat, this fight showed his ability to compete against high-level opponents, cementing his status in the grappling world. Note that Baki took this fight in short notice the day before it. His opponent, aware of this information, did not hesitate to show his respect for the young French prodigy.
