Anatoly Malykhin vs Reug Reug II: Russia Star Eyes World Title Rematch
Anatoly Malykhin wants a rematch with Oumar “Reug Reug” Kane after the latter handed him his first MMA career defeat at ONE 169 earlier in the month.
Malykhin, who entered as a three-division MMA world champion, dropped his ONE Heavyweight strap to Reug Reugvia split decision inside Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium.
The Russian fighter says he wants a rematch against Reug Reugto prove that he is the best heavyweight MMA star in ONE Championship.
“I hope [the rematch] happens soon, but it isn’t confirmed yet. It’s still about 50-50,” Malykhin said.
While Malykhin insists the rivalry with Reug Reug is purely professional, he is determined to mount a challenge for the belt he dropped earlier this month.
“It’s all about the sport, and our relationship is purely professional. His hand got raised that night, but we both still want to be ONE World Champions. We’re both aiming to be at the top, so we definitely didn’t become friends,” Malykhin said.
