Anane Eyes Win Against Superlek, Promises Improved Performance
ONE Interim Bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nabil Anane is looking for a career-defining win when he meets Thai megastar Superlek Kiatmoo9 atONE 172: Takeru vs Rodtang on March 23.
Anane intends to avenge his debut loss against the two-sport world champion and secure a historic victory at the huge upcoming show.
21 months after their first bout, the pair will rematch in a high-stakes unification bout to crown an undisputed ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai world champion.
“I’m looking just for the win. I just want to beat Superlek. I don’t even think about the belt. I just want the win. I just want to beat Superlek. That’s it. That’s what I want in this fight,” Anane said.
Back in June 2023, Anane fell to a crushing first-round-knockout loss against the Thai megastar at ONE Friday Fights 22.
Since then, Anane has been on a roll, picking up six wins against top opponents, including former world title challenger Felipe Lobo and Lethwei legend Soe Lin Oo.
The youngest ever WBC Muay Thai champion feels he has gathered enough experience in small gloves against elite competitors to deliver a much better performance than the first time the pair collided.
“Two years ago, I didn’t know nothing about small [4-ounce] gloves. I didn’t have this experience. I’m totally different. Very different. It was a big lesson, and I learned a lot in that fight. I’m sure that it’s not going to be the same this time,” Anane said.
ONE 172: Takeru vs Rodtang kicks off at 10:00 AM Mecca on Sunday, March 23, and is available as a pay-per-view (PPV) via watch.onefc.com.
