On the sidelines of UFC 310, Alex Pereira, the current Light Heavyweight Champion, shared his thoughts on a potential clash between Heavyweight legend Jon Jones and Interim Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall.
Pereira, crowned “Fighter of the Year 2024” following an impressive winning streak this year against top names like Jamahal Hill, Jiri Prochazka, and Khalil Rountree, made his opinion clear regarding this anticipated showdown.
In an interview with TNT Sport, Pereira said:
“Jon Jones has a lot of experience that tips the scales in his favor. Some people talk about Aspinall’s talent, but he lacks the kind of experience Jon Jones possesses. Jon has been fighting at the highest level for years, and that’s what makes him the stronger candidate to win.”
Pereira did not hide his personal desire to face Jon Jones, adding:
“I love the idea of facing him. Jones expressed his willingness to fight me, and I feel the same. But ultimately, the decision is in the hands of the UFC, and we’ll see what happens.”
Dream Match Against Jon Jones
As Pereira continues to dominate the Light Heavyweight division, having defended his title three times this year, predictions point to a possible bout against Magomed Ankalaev in 2025. However, Pereira seems determined to pursue his dream of fighting Jon Jones next year.
Will the dream fight between Pereira and Jones become a reality? Or will Aspinall rewrite the narrative with his talent? The world of MMA is always full of surprises!
