Algeria’s Akram Hamidi is set to compete with a former two-sport world champion in ONE Championship’s event ONE Friday Fights 81 on September 27.
Hamidi takes on former Muay Thai and Kickboxing world champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao in a Strawweight Muay Thai contest inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 25-year-old Algerian most recently picked up a first-round TKO win against Kongchai Chanaidonmueang in June. Hamidi had also beaten Thailand’s Jomhod on his debut in June last year.
Hamidi only suffered a decision loss against current ONE Strawweight Muay Thai and Kickboxing world champion Prajanchai PK Saenchai – the man who beat Sam-A twice, most recently via knockout in June 2023.
Hamidi hopes to improve his overall professional record (50-5) but faces a big test against the 40-year-old veteran.
ONE Friday Fights 81 kicks off at 3:30 PM Mecca on Friday, September 29.
