Biggest Winners and Losers from ONE Fight Night 31
A captivating main event and a submission grappling world title for the ages headlined an exciting ONE Fight Night 31: Kongthoranee vs Nong-O II.
Seven matchups across Muay Thai, MMA, and submission grappling captured the audience inside Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium.
Here are the biggest winners and losers from ONE Fight Night 31.
The Biggest Winners
- Nong-O Hama
With a brilliant performance, Nong-O got his redemption against Kongthoranee Sor Sommai in the main event. Not only did the 38-year-old Thai legend show that he is still a top fighter, but also proved that he is a serious challenger for the vacant ONE Flyweight Muay Thai world title.
- Tye Ruotolo
Ruotolo kept his perfect 8-0 record in ONE Championship with an excellent performance against challenger and top submission grappling star Canadian. The 22-year-old American also announced that he will be following in his brother Kade’s footsteps into MMA.
- Abofazl Alipourandi
Abofazl Alipourandi replaced Nauzet Trujillo five days before the show, but he made the best out of the opportunity to capture the biggest surprise victory of the night via a knockout in 59 seconds.
- ONE Friday Fights Duo
Akif Guluzada and Abdulla Dayakev picked up big unanimous decision wins against Sean Climaco and Saemapetch Fairtex. Their talents shined and their wins proved how ONE Friday Fights is the gateway to future ONE stars.
- Lucas Gabriel
Perhaps the biggest winner of all, Lucas Gabriel won two battles in one night: he first came out on top against Sean Climaco after a bloody battle before proposing to her girlfriend, winning over her heart.
The Biggest Losers
- Saemapetch
With his loss against Dayakaev, Saemapetch has now suffered three consecutive defeats. While there is no doubt that he possesses top skills, the former world title challenger needs to go back to winning.
- Liam Nolan
Liam Nolan returned after a short-lived retirement only to fall in disappointing fashion via knockout in 59 seconds against newcomer Iranian Abofazl Alipourandi.
