ONE Two-Division MMA World Champion Anatoly Malykhin Discusses Changes to Training and Diet

ONE two-division MMA world champion Anatoly Malykhin has revealed the strategic changes he has recently implemented to his training routine and diet ahead of his return to fight in ONE Championship.

The Russian megastar most recently suffered his first ever defeat in his stellar mixed martial arts career, losing his ONE Heavyweight MMA world title to Senegal’s Oumar Kane via split decision at ONE 169 last November.

The loss has been a welcome wake-up call to “Sladkiy” who had seemed invincible in his run at the global martial arts organization, amassing six straight dominant knockout wins against the likes of Kirill Grishenko and Reinier De Ridder.

With general improvements to his skillset as a fighter and redemption against the strong former Senegal wrestling champion on his mind, Malykhin has been focusing on bulking up.

“I’ve been focusing more on strength and conditioning. I’ve been doing a lot of strength training and working with weights. I bulked up again and hit the numbers I had back when I was fighting at heavyweight,” Malykhin said.

“I’ve bulked up. I used to be 100 kilos. Now I’m 117. I’ve been lifting a lot. As for my diet, I switched to keto – I cut out carbs completely. And so far, I feel great,” he added.
