Turkish MMA star Halil Amir is planning to finish Shamil Gasanov early when the two men face each other at ONE Fight Night 26: Lee vs Rasulov.
In the morning hours of Saturday, Amir faces Gasanov in a pivotal featherweight MMA bout inside Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium.
Halil, who has been training hard with his team in Thailand ahead of the fight, points to one main weakness in Gasanov’s game.
“I watched [his fights]. Shamil is a basic wrestler and grappler. Obviously, his strong point is wrestling and grappling and his weak point is his striking technique,” Amir said.
Both men have lost only once in their careers. The 30-year-old is aiming to bounce back from his KO defeat at the hands of Akbar Abdullaev back in May and improve his 10-1 overall record.
Amir says the reason Garry Tonon became the first man to beat Gasanov was that he pressed him fearlessly – and adds that he aims to do the same.
“The plan is to finish the fight early,” Halil said.
ONE Fight Night 26: Lee vs Rasulov kicks off at 4:30 AM Mecca on Saturday December 7 and will be broadcast live via beIN SPORTS.
