Belal Muhammad is gearing up to face Leon Edwards for the welterweight belt at UFC 304, set to take place this weekend in England. The Palestinian-born contender’s recent remarks have stirred significant buzz, as he was harsh in his criticism of the champion.
Belal Muhammad: An Upward Trajectory and Achievements
Belal Muhammad, of Palestinian descent, is on an impressive upward trajectory in the UFC, achieving a winning streak of nine consecutive victories. Despite not finishing his opponents with knockouts or submissions, he has proven himself by overcoming strong competitors like Gilbert Burns, who he defeated by points, as well as Stephen Thompson and Vicente Luque.
Muhammad stated to MMA Fighting, “My goal is to win this belt, then return to Abu Dhabi and defend my title there. I want to stay active. I’m always training, always in the gym. We get paid to fight, not to sit on the sidelines.”
Fiery Statements: Muhammad Dismisses Edwards
From Belal Muhammad’s perspective, Leon Edwards “already knows he’s going to lose” and will be “scared.” He added, “Leon knows that the upcoming fights will be tough. He knows that once he signed this fight, he said, ‘Okay, this is my last chance to walk around with this belt. This is my last chance to appear in GQ magazine or attend a soccer game. Because after his defeat, no one will pay attention to him. He doesn’t get any attention otherwise.”
In his criticism of Edwards’ character, Muhammad said, “If he didn’t have this belt, no one would know who he is. Edwards doesn’t talk about himself, he doesn’t promote himself. He doesn’t even know how to speak. Even when he appears on these podcasts, he whispers. He looks stupid and very scared. He looks like he doesn’t belong here. This belt doesn’t belong on his shoulder. It should be on mine.”
Future Aspirations: Muhammad Aims to Dominate the Welterweight Division
Belal Muhammad already sees himself as a champion and aims to face other fighters in the welterweight division such as Shavkat Rakhmonov, Jack Della Maddalena, and Ian Garry. He said, “Give me Shavkat Rakhmonov, give me Jack Della Maddalena, or Ian Garry, and then I’ll beat them all. I’ll be recognized as the greatest ever.”
As the fight at UFC Manchester approaches, Belal Muhammad will have the chance to prove his statements and showcase a level worthy of his dreams and ambitions. He has added excitement to the fight by training with legend Khabib Nurmagomedov, enhancing his readiness for the showdown.
