Ellis Badr Barboza Outlines His Ambitions at ONE Championship

British Muay Thai star Ellis Badr Barboza spoke about his big ambitions in ONE Championship as he prepares for his next fight in the martial arts organization’s ONE Fight Nights series.
The former WBC European champion (17-5) is set to lock horns with surging Thai counterpart Aliff Sor Dechapan in a Strawweight Muay Thai clash at ONE Fight Night 23: Ok vs Rasulov in the early hours of Saturday, July 6.
Speaking ahead of the anticipated bout, 24-year-old Englishman revealed that his main objective in ONE Championship is to wrap the ONE Strawweight Muay Thai belt around his waist.
“I plan to get the [ONE Strawweight Muay Thai world title] belt. That’s the only thing on my mind. I’m willing to fight anybody until I get the belt. Whoever ONE wants to give me, and however long it takes, I don’t know, I just have to fight whoever I have to fight to get there,” he said.
Barboza is one of several English stars plying their trade in the martial arts organization. The Birmingham native lists veteran Liam Harrison and two-sport champion Jonathan Haggerty as two of his biggest inspirations.
And just like ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai and Kickboxing world champion Haggerty, Barboza hopes to eventually pick up world title belts in both sports.
“I want the kickboxing and Muay Thai belts. I want to be a double champ. Just generally, I want to hold that belt for as long as possible and keep building our business to become one of the main ones in the combat space. And the business is going to go to many places. I’ll always be representing MTM and expanding it. And hopefully, holding the title at the same time,” Barboza said.
