Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion sends a man to the hospital after he tried to rob him

A thief left on a stretcher after trying to break into a car belonging to a rather large Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion.

The owner of the vehicle is Haisam Rida, a member of B Team jiu-jitsu (Austin, Texas). The latter is a two-time Asian Open champion and three-time IBJJF Japanese champion. The Ghanaian is also a veteran of the 2022 ADCC and is a silver medalist at the Pan Am No-GI Championship.

In a video uploaded to the team’s YouTube channel, Rida revealed he was sleeping in the gym between sessions when a teammate informed him that someone had entered his vehicle. While checking the security camera, Rida saw the individual in his car and immediately chased him. Given his size and skill, the fighter quickly overpowered the thief.

“I was taking a nap inside the office,” explains Haisam Rida on the video. “I think I had to leave the car door unlocked, it was my mistake. I swept him, he fell to the ground, he tried to move to escape, so I gave him a back choke. »

After the incident, the police quickly arrived on the scene. And it turns out the thief was not picked up in a police car. Indeed, the latter left on a stretcher. BJJ black belt Rida admitted he could have done more damage: “The cops just said, ‘Good job holding him down,’ and that I had every right to protect my stuff. . Whatever I did to him I would have had full rights but I didn’t, I just restrained him and handed him over to the cops. »

A scene that is reminiscent of the time when an amateur MMA fighter punished his attackers, or when a former UFC man took care of a drunken man who insulted him.
