UFC commentator Daniel Cormier has praised Ilia Topuria as a rising star at featherweight after her victory over the weekend.

Last Saturday night, Ilia Topuria made a real statement. He beat and bruised Josh Emmett, picking up the biggest win of his career so far. He’s proven he can last five rounds, can hold his own against the best, and is a true title contender in the 145-pound class. Of course, he still has a long way to go before he becomes champion.

Some believe he should face Alexander Volkanovski’s winner against Yair Rodriguez, while others want to see him go by Max Holloway. The Spanish fighter has given the UFC an ultimatum to fight “Blessed”.

There’s no shortage of options for the 26-year-old. In the spirit of Daniel Cormier, he is also paving the way for a whole new generation of MMA which will be represented by Ilia Topuria.

” He’s young. He is 25 or 26 years old. He didn’t fight much,” Cormier said. “The only thing that could be considered negative is that he did not attend the fighters meetings because he was in the process of losing weight. This is literally the only misstep. He had to reduce his weight, and it’s not really a faux pas.”
