{"id":416,"date":"2022-10-10T23:32:51","date_gmt":"2022-10-10T22:32:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mmamag.ma\/en\/?p=416"},"modified":"2022-10-12T04:21:58","modified_gmt":"2022-10-12T03:21:58","slug":"golds-for-brazil-and-mongolia-at-judo-world-championships-in-uzbekistan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mmamag.ma\/en\/golds-for-brazil-and-mongolia-at-judo-world-championships-in-uzbekistan\/","title":{"rendered":"Golds for Brazil and Mongolia at Judo World Championships in Uzbekistan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The incredible momentum of the World Judo Championships continued on day three in Tashkent.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The International Judo Federation\u2019s flagship event in the capital of Uzbekistan was a hive of activity, with locals and fans excitedly awaiting what promised to be another phenomenal day of Jud<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Silva wins again, nine years on<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the &lt;57kg contest, Rafaela Silva, Brazil\u2019s 2016 Olympic and 2013 World Champion, was on fire all day, despatching, Bulgaria\u2019s Ivelina Ilieva and Israel\u2019s Nelson Levy on the way to the final.<span style=\"color: #000000; text-align: justify; font-family: Verdana, BlinkMacSystemFont, -apple-system, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Open Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif; font-size: 15px;\">Here she faced Funakubo Haruka &#8212; whose typically Japanese domination on the floor earnt her spot in the final.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-min-tv-running=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">But it was Silva&#8217;s mastery of Uchi-mata &#8212; one of the original Judo throws &#8212; which won her the world title. Nine years on from her previous triumph, the raw emotion was there to see.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kit McConnell, the International Olympic Committee Sports Director, awarded the medals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;When I was hugging my coach,&#8221; Silva said afterwards. &#8220;I actually couldn\u2019t believe that I had become World Champion again. And she was saying to me \u2018You did it, it\u2019s real,\u00a0this moment is real! You did it again.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Mongolia\u2019s first World title since 2017<\/h2>\n<p>Japanese star Hashimoto Soichi looked in form for the &lt;73kg category. The 2017 World Champion defeated Georgian legend and reigning World Champion Lasha Shavdatuashvili on the way to the final, cheered on by his family.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There he met Mongolia\u2019s Olympic Bronze Medallist Tsogtbaatar Tsend-Ochir, a\u00a0move against Canada\u2019s Arthur Margelidon the highlight of his path to the final.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A lightning-fast counter saw Tsend-Ochir win Mongolia\u2019s first World title since 2017.\u00a0After the first edition of the Ulaanbaatar Grand Slam in June, this has been a fantastic year\u00a0for Mongolian Judo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Max-Herv\u00e9 George, Ultima Group CEO, awarded the medals and the former President of Mongolia, and the President of the Mongolian Judo Association, His Excellency Battulga Kaltmaa, awarded his fellow countrymen the prize money.<\/p>\n<div class=\"widget widget--type-instagram widget--size-fullwidth widget--align-center\" data-oembed-url=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CjdIYL3t8Yi\/\">\n<div class=\"widget__wrapper\">\n<figure class=\"widget__figure\">\n<div class=\"widget__ratio widget__ratio--auto\">\n<div class=\"widget__contents\"><iframe id=\"instagram-embed-0\" class=\"instagram-media instagram-media-rendered\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CjdIYL3t8Yi\/embed\/captioned\/?cr=1&amp;v=14&amp;wp=658&amp;rd=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.euronews.com&amp;rp=%2F2022%2F10%2F08%2Fgold-for-brazil-and-mongolia-on-day-three-at-judo-world-championships-in-tashkent%3Futm_source%3Dnews.google.com%26utm_campaign%3Dfeeds_sport%26utm_medium%3Dreferral#%7B%22ci%22%3A0%2C%22os%22%3A1128.5999999046326%7D\" height=\"1274\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-instgrm-payload-id=\"instagram-media-payload-0\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Today, I woke up to be number one,&#8221; Tsend-Ochir said. &#8220;I came here today to be the World Champion and I did it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There was phenomenal Judo on display from the local Uzbek team, and on each day the crowd has been elated to see their heroes in action.
