On January 21, UFC world number 2 middleweight Dricus Du Plessis will face division champion Sean Strickland. The two athletes already had an exchange during a press conference which took place in December to promote the UFC&#8217;s numbered (pay-per-view) events. The tone rose between Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis. &#8216;Stillknocks&#8217; did not fail to attack &#8216;Tarzan&#8217; about his traumatic childhood&#8230; which ended up leading to a fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, in the audience of UFC 296. More recently , Strickland admitted that he had sent a chilling threat to Du Plessis not to bring up the sensitive subject again.<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Guest on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Dricus Du Plessis explained that he wanted things to be more \u201ccivil\u201d during the next press conference. However, the South African will respond if the reigning champion attacks him.<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dricus Du Plessis will not attack Strickland<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;I guess I&#8217;ll see when that happens.&#8221; But I will be ready to take on whatever he throws at me. When I go to these press conferences, I never think: \u2018Ah, I\u2019m going to say that!\u2019 It doesn\u2019t happen like that, it\u2019s in the moment. \u00bb<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI think it\u2019s going to be a lot more civil.\u201d But maybe he will arrive with guns blazing, who knows? But I think it will be more civil because, in my mind, this press conference was a joke. It was me who was having a lot of fun. I am no longer in this area. I&#8217;m in the combat zone now. I&#8217;m ready to go. I&#8217;m here to win a world title. I&#8217;m not here to make jokes. \u00bb<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sean Strickland won the middleweight belt at UFC 293 by dominating Israel Adesanya head and shoulders, winning by unanimous decision after 5 rounds (see the fight summary here).
